To prevent any Denver animals, including mice, getting inside your home, you are going to perform a series of tasks that include home repairs, fencing and the installation of different elements that will stop animals from using your chimney, vents and windows to get inside your Colorado house.

When it comes to prevention, fencing is the most important initial step to protecting your home against critters. Fences that have cracked or rotten, or are not sturdy enough to keep an animal from chewing their way in are the first thing you should repair. Also, if your fence is not thick enough, the animal will have an easy way passing through larger gaps in the design of the fence. When it comes to preventing your mice from getting inside a house, a fence that is not thick enough, has holes in it or any other soft spot, is a potential entry point for a mouse. Inspect your fence to see if it has any soft spots that mice might use to get any inside. Install a fence made out of thick wire or metal, to not allow mice to chew through it. A lot of the time, mice will try to find a weak spot in a fence over and over again. This means that, in order to remain one step ahead in keeping Colorado mice out, you are going to have to inspect your fence frequently and repair any damage in it you find along the way.

Home repairs are the second, yet equally important, way to keep all sorts of Denver rodents and critters away. When it comes to any possible entry spots for mice, the same goes as for fences. Mice will use any possible hole or a gap, even the tiniest one, to pass though and get inside your house. Additionally, mice are skillful in discovering spots in your walls or woodwork that are softer or possibly rotten, and they will use these spots to bite holes in your walls, windows and doors and get inside. A thorough inspection of a home is a must if you want to keep the mice out. Check your door and window frames, attic, basement and walls for any holes and gaps. Seal them wherever possible. Also, make sure to secure your chimneys, vents, basement and attic windows from Colorado mice getting in using proper installations.

If you already have a Denver mouse inside your house, there are several methods for removing them. One of the methods animal lovers use to exclude mice from their homes without harming and killing them is called exclusion. Essentially, exclusion is a method of animal removal in which you will seal all possible exits for an animal but one. When it comes to nocturnal animals or animals who leave the space to go outside to feed, you can seal the last exit once the animal is out. With mice, however, you are going to have to use an exclusion funnel. Exclusion funnel is made out of wire mesh that contains a hole that is only big enough as to let the mouse get out, but is not going to allow it to come back inside the Colorado house.

If exclusion is not the option you want, trapping Denver mice is another possibly. You have the option to decide whether or not you want to trap the mouse alive, or use snap traps to put it down. If you decide to use snap traps, place them in spots you’ve noticed mice moving around most frequently. For bait, the most effective foods have proven to be peanut butter and different meats, preferably bacon. If you want to create a humane mouse trap, you can use a glass and a metal, or any other material, spring, and place the bait at the bottom of the glass. Mouse will use the spring as a path to get to the bait, but will not be able to get out. If you want to release the Colorado mouse, you can do that in any deserted area, far away from other houses or buildings.
